Drop.io

I had occasion to use this utility yesterday, as often when I am emailing artwork back and forth with graphic designers on printing jobs, the files are too big to email.

Drop.io lets you “drop” files up to 100mb (you can upgrade to 1GB for a very small fee). I know that there are myriad services out there that let you do this, I have tried lots of them, but I usually come away from the experience thinking it should not have been that hard.

Drop.io bills it’s service as “simple private exchange” and it really is. The interface is simple, but there are a lot of functions that make this service stand out in my mind. You can password protect your “drop”, set it to expire, and set it to ‘read-only’ for the person you are sending it to. There are also different ways to send it.

In general, Drop.io is a simple, useful utility, my favorite kind. I bookmarked it and will use it again for sure. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
